Of note, Nancy Leppink, WHD deputy administrator, announced plans to publish a proposed rule in April concerning the recordkeeping regulations issued under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). She indicated the proposed rule would address notification of workers' status as employees or some other status such as independent contractors, and whether that worker is entitled to the protections of the FLSA. The proposal also may require employers to issue all workers wage statements for each pay period.
