NLA President Promotes Unity Amidst Times of Financial Hardship Through Free 3-Month Membership For Industry Operators Around the World

April 8, 2020 (New York, NY) The National Limousine Association (NLA), the leading non-profit organization responsible for and dedicated to representing the interests of the private chauffeur transportation industry, today announced that all membership from April through June will be free for non-NLA members. This offering is in direct response to the devastating effects COVID-19 has had on the chauffeured car industry and is intended to provide critical and immediate resources to our peers in need. Especially mindful of not leaving smaller operators behind, this initiative is designed to unite the industry during a time of uncertainty.

“Our industry has never faced a more challenging time than this,” said Robert Alexander, President of the NLA. “Businesses in the private ground transportation industry are seeing over a 90% loss in revenue. It is the NLA’s mission and duty to advocate for the industry as a whole and it is vital that we champion the thousands of small business owners worldwide. We are all in this fight. Through uniting peers and sharing our collective resources, we will band together to secure government aid, mitigate the financial devastation from the novel coronavirus and get our great industry back on its feet.”

Earlier this month, the NLA aligned with The American Bus Association, The American Ground Transportation Association, The Global Business Travel Association, The Near Airport Parking Industry Trade Association, The Transportation Alliance and The United Motorcoach Association to sign an industry letter requesting $12 billion to support the thousands of vital companies being decimated as a result of COVID-19. In addition to this letter, the NLA also performed the following legislative efforts to support the industry at large thus far:

  • Coordinated a campaign to get the aforementioned letter into the hands of every member of the Senate and House
  • Hosted a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office to express the devastation of the ground transportation industry and the immediate need for funding
  • Consistently communicated with the leaders of Senate and House that are on the appropriate committees most influential to the NLA’s needs (Finance, Commerce, Appropriations, Ways and Means)
  • Participated in a 1.5-hour Facebook Live interview to educate more than 600 participants on the details of the small business provisions that Congress passed to help the industry.
